Vikings QB Ponder: 'We have a lot to work on'

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Whether it's Christian Ponder holding the ball too long or a new-look offensive line not giving their quarterback enough time, the Minnesota Vikings know there is a lot of work to be done before the regular season opens in two weeks.

Ponder and the Vikings offense had a solid preseason through the first two games. But an ugly performance last week against San Diego exposed a few concerns heading into the final tune up. Ponder was sacked five times in less than three quarters, and the Vikings starters managed just three points.

Ponder says he needs to get rid of the ball sooner to take the pressure off his line.

Guard Charlie Johnson says the unit is still coming together after losing veterans Steve Hutchinson and Anthony Herrera.
