Henry Ellenson named 1st Team All-BIG East

Updated: 03/07/2016 - Freshmen Henry Ellenson and Haanif Cheatham of the Marquette University men's basketball team have both been named to the BIG EAST Conference's postseason squads, the league office announced Sunday morning. Ellenson, a candidate for the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-America honors, was named All-BIG EAST First Team and also claimed a spot on the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team (unanimous selection). Cheatham also earned a nomination to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team after a stellar debut campaign with the Golden Eagles.

On the boys side, regional trophy's are handed out with most top seeds advancing to the section semifinals, but 6th seed Fall Creek continues its Cinderalla run by outlasting Stanley-Boyd in double overtime! Two new state hockey champions in boys and girls hockey were also crowned as Appleton United defeats Hudson, 2-1 and Hayward avenges last year's title game loss by beating University School, 4-1.

Posted: 03/04/2016 - SportScene 13 for Friday, March 4th, 2016 is loaded with Boys and Girls State Hockey and Boys Basketball Regional Semifinal action - 15 games in all! On the ice, Eau Claire Memorial's run for a 3rd State Title ended at the hands of Appleton United in the semifinals, 4-1. However, Hudson won by that same 4-1 score line over Waukesha North to advance to Saturday's championship game. At girls state, Hayward and the University School will meet up in the championship after the Hurricanes won 6-1. In boys basketball, we have highlights from 10 games, including Eau Claire Memorial's double overtime winner over D.C.
