Posted: 10/22/2009 - Despite needing just one win to earn a trip to next week's WIAA football playoffs, Eau Claire Memorial couldn't continue their comeback season, falling 35-3 to Big Rivers Conference co-champ Hudson. Two-time defending BRC champion Chippewa Falls also is out of the postseason picture after a 26-13 loss to this year's conference co-champion, Menomonie. In the WIAA state boys soccer playoffs, Eau Claire Memorial and Hudson will square off in a Division 1 sectional semifinal Saturday. The Old Abes beat Marshfield, 2-1, while Hudson downed D.C. Everest, 1-0, to move one game away from a trip to the state tournament.
