Updated: 12/05/2009 - The Eau Claire North boys basketball team is off to a 2-0 start under first-year head coach Aric Carpenter after posting a 59-38 road win over Holmen Friday night. Elsewhere in the Big Rivers, Chippewa Falls was not as fortunate as the Cardinals fell to Onalaska, 58-40. In girls action in the BRC, Eau Claire North held off a late rally from River Falls to win 51-48, but Eau Claire Memorial struggled against Hudson, losing 45-25. Cloverbelt Conference boys contenders Eau Claire Regis and Fall Creek both earned victories, as the Ramblers defeated Chippewa Falls McDonell, 66-52, while the Crickets beat Thorp, 50-36.
