As Chance Dickman reports in this week's Gordy's Athlete Of The Week, Freitag is grateful to play the game he loves, so close to home.

WIAA to Vote on "Multiplier" Wednesday

Updated: 04/15/2014 - The proposal is quite simple in nature. All private schools in the state would have their enrollment multiplied by 1.65. A school of 100 would move up to 165, shifting their divisions to face stiffer competition in an attempt to even the playing field since, in theory; private schools can recruit better players.

Sport Scene 13 for Saturday March, 22nd

Updated: 03/25/2014 - Wisconsin Men's Basketball beats Oregon for a spot in the Sweet 16; the first time since 2012. The Neillsville Lady Warriors come up short in the Div. 3 State Final in what was the lowest scoring game in a championship game. Wisconsin Rapids Assumption goes for the gold ball in Div. 5, but undefeated Barneveld was just too strong.

We start down in Madison on championship Saturday for boys basketball, where Thorp claimed the Division 5 championship, while Rice Lake and Blair-Taylor finished fine seasons as runners-up. Thorp Wins State Championship; Blair-Taylor, Rice Lake Runners-Up

Updated: 03/15/2014 - Thorp won its first State championship with a 47-40 victory over Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran in the Division 5 final Saturday. While Dominican became just the sixth program to win three consecutive State championships with a 74-50 win over Blair-Taylor in the Division 4 final

Elk Mound falls in OT; Rice Lake Advances to Championship

Updated: 03/14/2014 - Lodi and Elk Mound matched each other shot for shot during most of the Friday's division three WIAA State Boys Basketball semifinal, but in the end, the Mounders fell short in overtime, losing 50-47. Rice Lake turned back Greendale to advance to the championship final in Division 2 with a 70-58 win in the semifinals
