WIAA softball regional semifinals take center state on Tuesday. Eau Claire North rallied to beat Superior 5-4, while Baldwin-Woodville and Elk Mound got easy 5 inning wins. While Eau Claire Regis moves on to Thursday's regional final with a 8-4 win over Osseo-Fairchild. In baseball action, Hudson took control in the Big Rivers with a sweep of Eau Claire North. Big news tonight for Menomonie High School wrestling state champion Eric Peissig. Our own SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman the first to report that Eric will wrestling at the University of Wisconsin next year. Peissig won the WIAA division one state championship at 195 lbs back in late February. Eric has also been one of WEAU's Gordy's Athlete of the Week.
Ladysmith senior, Andi Ostenso is a highly decorated runner. As a sophomore, Andi won the state title in the mile, as a junior she ran a 4:54 mile, and now as a senior, Andi is back for more. In this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, SportScene13's Jenn Chapman meets this 4.0 student who excels at taking the lead.
In their third appearance in the WIAA girls state basketball tournament, the Colfax Vikings advanced to the state title game for the first time, defeating The Prairie School in a thriller, 42-41. The Vikings will take on Algoma in the state championship on Saturday, March 16th. SportScene13 brings you highlights from Green Bay.
