Boyceville's Matt Leach is on the state watch list for outfielders but his nomination for Gordy's Athlete of the Week has more to do with his success off the field. SportScene13's Jenn Chapman has more.

WIAA softball regional semifinals take center state on Tuesday. Eau Claire North rallied to beat Superior 5-4, while Baldwin-Woodville and Elk Mound got easy 5 inning wins. While Eau Claire Regis moves on to Thursday's regional final with a 8-4 win over Osseo-Fairchild. In baseball action, Hudson took control in the Big Rivers with a sweep of Eau Claire North. In local prep sports action, the Eau Claire Immanuel softball team won their WIAA Division 4 regional opener 12-4 over Clear Lake. While in girls soccer, Rice Lake blanked Eau Claire North 1-0.

Injuries can often be a negative aspect in sports but in this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, SportScene13's Jenn Chapman shows us how Fall Creek's Brett Johnson hasn't let injuries keep him down.

The Elk Mound baseball team has only played one game this year, but it was a big one. As they beat the defending state champions, Prescott. The Mounders are a team to look out for as they are led by this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, Garett Phillips.

Eau Claire Immanuel's senior Abbie Hein will become the first female Lancer in school history to sign with a division 1 school. Hein has verbally committed to play basketball in the American East Conference at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Big news tonight for Menomonie High School wrestling state champion Eric Peissig. Our own SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman the first to report that Eric will wrestling at the University of Wisconsin next year. Peissig won the WIAA division one state championship at 195 lbs back in late February. Eric has also been one of WEAU's Gordy's Athlete of the Week.

Spring sports have finally gotten underway. One area athlete has already left his mark. Jenn Chapman introduces us to this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week Eau Claire Memorial's, Brendan Kwick.

Neillsville junior, Jenny Lindner has verbally committed to play Division 1 basketball at UW-Milwaukee. SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman caught up with the Warrior standout in this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week.

By tomorrows date..April 13th of last year. The Eau Claire North baseball team had already played 5 games. This year they have yet to see the field in a game thanks to mother nature.

Ladysmith senior, Andi Ostenso is a highly decorated runner. As a sophomore, Andi won the state title in the mile, as a junior she ran a 4:54 mile, and now as a senior, Andi is back for more. In this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, SportScene13's Jenn Chapman meets this 4.0 student who excels at taking the lead.

Menomonie High School Linebacker and Offensive Guard Eric Peissig has been selected to the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Team ( Wisconsin Chapter). Eric was one of the eleven student athletes that will be honored at half time of the Wisconsin Badgers Spring Game on April 20th.

Jake Sparger gave up two hits and struck out 12 as Eau Claire Memorial defeated Milwaukee Riverside 10-0 at the Metrodome.

Eau Claire Memorial's Jake Sparger was the Big Rivers Conference Pitcher of the Year last season as he struck out 70 batters in 54 innings. In this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman profiles the Old Abes ace.

The UW-Eau Claire basketball team got some good news today as Augusta standout Joe Whalen has decided to play his college ball with the Blugolds.

In their third appearance in the WIAA girls state basketball tournament, the Colfax Vikings advanced to the state title game for the first time, defeating The Prairie School in a thriller, 42-41. The Vikings will take on Algoma in the state championship on Saturday, March 16th. SportScene13 brings you highlights from Green Bay.
