Eau Claire- (WEAU) Tuesday night's Eau Claire Express home opener against Lakeshore was postponed because of heavy rain. The Express and Chinooks will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, two 7-inning games starting at 5:05 pm. Fans that had tickets for Tuesday's game will be honored for both games on Wednesday.
Manager Dale Varsho says he'll have 16 players in uniform for Wednesday's doubleheader which will include four local guys, UW-Milwaukee's Tyler Hermann and Justin Jaquish, UW-Stout's Brady Burzynski, and St. Scholastica's Andy Davis. All four played at Carson Park during their high school careers, and Varsho says all of them deserve a chance to show what they can do against college baseball's best. Varsho says, "I think it's exciting to have any local players that are good enough to play. With Brady and Ty and even with the two pitchers, Andy and Justin. They are good players, they are good college players, they deserve a chance to play here. I'm looking forward to seeing them on the mound and hopefully they can stick with us all year."
Adds Brady Burzynski, "The funnest part at the beginning of the season is meeting all the guys and hopefully we all mesh well and get some wins."
Tyler Hermann agrees, "Just being in the league, taking at-bats in the Northwoods, it always helps to have that under your belt and take it to the next season, like this season so.
