After losing last year's state final 1 to nothing, at the hands of Union Grove, Baldwin-Woodville is heading back to state this week looking for redemption. The team says they got the jitters of their first trip to state out of them and now they are ready to bring home the gold ball.
Coach Rick Coltrain: "Good defense wins ball games. We're gonna play tough defense and we'll figure out how to get some runs here and there and come out on top. They started out the goals at the beginning of the season that the taste that left in our mouths last year, losing to a 1-0 in a championship game, they want that taste out of their mouths so they're going there to take care of business. They want to win the big one."
Katie Thompson/Outfielder: "We can't focus on the championship, we have to focus on the first game. We have to make sure we win that one before we go to the championship. So we have to work hard, even more than we have alll season. Just to focus on the little things and do what you can and defense will win the games so hitting will come eventually. We just need to make sure we have good defense."
Abby Klopp: "We all think that any team can be beaten at any time because if you look we beat Union Grove this year and we weren't expected to, so just the underdog can take it anytime and we need to take each game one step at a time."
