Chippewa Falls Izzy Balsiger's perfect season and a 2nd state title came to an end as he lost to Colin Baine of Wausau West 3-1 in Overtime in the 120 lb. state final. While Memorials Alastair Keys was pinned by Devin Peterson of Wisconsin Rapids in the 195 lb. final.
Baine and Balsiger met last week in the sectional finals with Balsiger winning the match with 13-6 decision. Baine was able to turn the tables today, battling Izzy to a 1-1 tie in regulation. In overtime, Balsiger went for a take down, only to have Baine reverse it and get the two points for the victory and state title. For Balsiger, it was only his first loss of the season, and finishes the season 46-1.
Keys faced an uphill battle taking on Devin Peterson, who won all his matches by pin in the first round and finished the season 40-0. Peterson was able to get the initial take down then the pin in 46 seconds. Keys finished his senior season with a second place finish and 47-2 overall record.
Earlier in the day, Chippewa Falls' Quinn Miracle wrapped up a fine performance at 113 lbs. as he topped Justice Parker of Milwaukee Bradley Tech. with a 13-3 majority decision. Miracle finished the season with 34-3 record.
