The Chippewa Falls girls basketball team advanced to the WIAA sectionals with a convincing victory over Eau Claire North this past Saturday. The Lady Cards back on the practice floor Monday afternoon as they look ahead to facing Marshfield Thursday night in Wausau. A big reason for the Cards success this past weekend was the play of senior guard Kayla Knez who stellar play in Friday's regional semifinal against La Crosse Central helped Chi Hi survive and advance.
Kayla Knez: "Friday night was scary for us, it definitely was a wake-up call for us, got to the point in the fourth quarter that all of us seniors were like this could be the last time we could play together and it definitely was a wake-up call. So we carried that intensity over to Saturday night, did all we could and proved we could beat them."
Alison Becker/Chippewa Falls Girls Basketball Coach: "She does a great job for us too. She jumps the ball, gets into the passing lanes, she's usually guarding the other team's best player, she gets our defense going and that triggers our offense a lot of the time."
