College Athlete Check-In: Wes and Trevor Manz

Tonight in our college athlete check-in. We catch up with Eau Claire Memorial grads, brothers Wes and Trevor Manz, swimmers at Kenyon College.

Wes, a junior sprint freestyler, ranks in the top 25 in D3 swimming. Trevor is a freshman and is the number one swimmer at the D3 level for the 200 breaststroke and is ranked 2nd in 3 other events.

Kenyon College holds the longest streak for national titles in any sport, in any division, with 31 straight swimming titles from 1980-2010

"It allows you to be a part of a group that's more dedicated to something, a single goal, then you've ever been in the past," says Wes.

"It's really helped me grow into more of an adult. It's a whole new level of discipline and commitment than it was at the high school level," adds Wes.

"Going into school this year, like having my brother there was also a benefit, but just already knowing that I was going to be close with 30 other guys, who are dedicated to a similar goal as I was," says Trevor when asked about the transition from high school to college swimming.

"I'm swimming a lot more confidently this year and that's contributed a lot to different types of training and strengths but also being in a better mental state and it's paid off in the pool and I've had some best times," Trevor adds.
