Fall Creek to battle Colfax in WIAA boys basketball sectional semifinal

The WIAA boys basketball tournament will resume on Thursday with several teams from Western Wisconsin still with hopes of playing in Madison next week. In Division 4, Fall Creek will take on Colfax in a sectional semifinal to be played in Altoona. The Vikings beat the Crickets back in late January, but Fall Creek has not lost since.

Brandon Mielnik/Fall Creek Senior:
"We kept battling, playing through it, trying to figure out who we are, I think that was the main problem, we didn't know our identity at the beginning and we started to get that chemistry and really pull together."
Brendan Downs/Fall Creek Senior:
"I'm sure a lot of teams didn't see this coming but we knew we could do it, and we've taken a one for all approach to every game this season, just focus on the next game and don't look ahead."
Rick Storlie/Fall Creek Head Coach:
"We have to keep them off the glass, they have tremendous leapers, they can shoot the ball, they have the whole package, ready to go, we're going to have to match their intensity."

As for Colfax, they survived and advanced, getting past Colby on Saturday night. The Vikings have plenty of tournament experience as Colfax advanced to the sectional final a year ago. Vikings coach Andrew Meade says his kids sole focus right now is beating the Crickets.
Andrew Meade/Colfax Head Coach:
"Rick Storlie does a great job over there, year in and year out, extremely competitive and they're a young basketball team, and very good, we're just looking forward to it."
Greg Christoffel/Colfax Senior Guard:
"We know Fall Creek's a different team, that they were last time, so we're going to prepare hard for them.|
Ethin Kiekhafer/Colfax Sophomore Forward:
"Probably going to have a chip on their shoulder after what happened the first time, if we both play our best, it should be a great game."
