Gabby Curtis Claims State Junior Match Play Title

It's been a good month for Altoona golfer Gabby Curtis. Last week she claimed 4th place at the State Boy's golf tournament, and Wednesday she won the State Junior Matchplay title in Oshkosh.

Curtis defeated Brookfield's Grace Dunn in a one hole playoff, after scoring a birdie on the 18th to force the extra hole.

The tournament, held at Oshkosh Country Club, featured the best 18 and under golfers in the state first in stroke play qualifying, then in the match play. Curtis shot a 79 in qualifying and then won 3 matches to take the state title.

Curtis, a sophomore this past school year at Altoona High School, golfed as part of the boy's team, as Altoona does not have a girls golf team. She finished 4th in division 2 at state in early June.
