Kyle Cody chooses to attend Kentucky, does not sign with Phillies

Former McDonell star Kyle Cody will not be starting his pro career just yet, as he chose to attend Kentucky in lieu of signing a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. The deadline to sign draft picks passed at 4 pm Friday..
Cody was selected in the 33rd round of the MLB draft in June, but will attend the University of Kentucky starting this fall.
Cody, who is pitching for the Eau Claire Cavaliers this summer, was 5-0 with 0.94 era for McDonell this season and was named the Gatorade Wisconsin baseball player of the year.
