The Neillsville girls basketball team will carry a 54-game winning streak into this week's Division 3 state tournament in Green Bay. Warriors coach John Gaier doesn't believe his team faces any added pressure in trying to win back-to-back titles.

"I tell them that really the most important game that they play is that sectional final game. As we found out last year that when you go to Madison anything can happen, I should say when you go to the state tournament anything is possible, it's getting there that's really the tough part," says Gaier. "So we hope we can go down there, perform well, and hope we go down there, with the ability that we can compete down there, based on last years performance."

For the Colfax Vikings, this will be their third trip to state in school history after appearances in 1994 and 2008. The 25-1 Vikings will take on the Prairie School Thursday night.

"The state tournament takes us to a whole new level. I know the team that we play first has one of the best guards, one of the best ball handlers that's ever played in Wisconsin, it's going to be a big challenge for us," says head coach Joe Doucette.

"Cuba City is probably the best program in the history of girls basketball in the state of Wisconsin. And Algoma has a great program, so we're going to have to take our game to a different level but we feel like we've been tough all year. So we want to prove we can fit in with those good teams and good programs," Doucette adds.
