Vodacek Chooses Ark.-Little Rock, Olson and Nayes Honored

It was a big day in Bloomer as senior John Vodacek signed a letter of intent to run cross country and track at division one Arkansas-Little Rock.
Vodacek is a standout on the Blackhawks' cross country and track teams, qualifying for state for both last year.

Vodecek had to battle adversity early in his high school career when he got Lyme's disease, but worked hard and overcame the challenge and now will continue his running career in college.

"It makes me really proud to see that my hard work really paid off and I was able to come back from Lyme's disease that spring, i am m just glad to be where I am now, I am just really thankful for it."

Two more bloomer athletes were honored today as cross country and track standout Ali Olson and football standout Levi Nayes were named WIAA scholar athletes.

Ali Olson maintained a 3.75 grade point average this past school year, while nayes had a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Both athletes are proud of the award and of the school that helped them excel on the field and in the classroom.

Ali Olson : "It's really nice that i get to share it with someone else in my school too, i don't think that happens very often, where both the male and female are recognized, it think that is a great honor for both of us"

Levi Nayes " We have 4 or 5 kids tied for first as far as grade point average goes, some years there are none, but this year we have five tied. It's a really good testament to how competitive and successful our class is"
