The WIAA football post-season resumes Friday night with Level 4 action around the state. Stanley-Boyd is one win away from their first trip to Madison since 1996. Coach Jeff Koenig's Orioles dominated Bloomer a week ago in Level 3, beating the Blackhawks 28-3 at Chapman Park. Next up for unbeaten Stanley-Boyd, a Level 4 match-up against defending Division 5 state champion Amherst. Koenig says his kids are excited about the opportunity before them and know it will take their best effort Friday night if they hope to make it to state next week, "Yeah, we've talked about what's at stake, they know that their one step away from the ultimate goal, it's really at this point of the year we have to be playing at our highest level and we were able to do that last week and hopefully we can put together another game and compete with Amherst and we're just excited to have this opportunity."
Meanwhile in Division 7, defending champion Glenwood City looks to return to Camp Randall next week, but must get past Pittsville at Dorais Field in Chippewa Falls on Friday. The Hilltoppers have rolled through the post-season including a 30-8 victory over Pepin/Alma last week in Level 3. Glenwood City head coach Shane Strong says his kinds have something to prove after what last year's team was able to accomplish last year, "Well, I think the senior class, they want to prove that they can do it without last year's seniors, they were a very close knit team a year ago but they want to show that they are the leaders now. And then we have some juniors that didn't get to play much on last year's team and they want to prove that they can get the job done as well."
