Western Wisconsin football trio headed to NDSU highlight National Letter of Intent Signing Day

Eau Claire Memorial receiver Drew Davis, Barron receiver Isaiah Frandsen along with Menomonie linebacker James Gates. That trio excited to get the opportunity to continue their football careers at the Division 1 level.
Drew Davis, North Dakota State preferred walk-on signee says,
"Hopefully I get put on scholarship next year and obviously I need to work hard during the off-season and when I get there work even harder and show them what I have. It should be a good experience and hopefully get some scholarship money along with it."
Isaiah Frandsen, another NDSU preferred walk-on signee, talked about getting recognized by D1 coaches, "Reassuring that I worked my butt off during the summer knowing that I got talked to by Division 1 national champions is really satisfying."
James Gates signed a full scholarship with NDSU, "It's exciting to know what's still to come in that program and just the success that they've had and they're still going to be having, being part of that and that history is going to be great."
After helping lead Eau Claire Regis to a state runner-up finish in Division 6, Khadel Akindolire and Nick Stanke will team up again at the University of SIoux Falls. The Ramblers duo signing their letters of intent Wednesday morning.
Akindolire says, "My family and I have discussed for a while, it's somewhere that I think I will fit in the best, strong academically and in terms of football."
Stanke says the Sioux Falls coaches had a big impact on his final decision, "The football program and coaches really stood out to me and that's what I liked most about it, it just seemed like the right fit. I heard from the other coaches, have to find the right fit for you and once you do that, go with your gut."
Back to Menomonie high school where two more Mustang athletes, Nicole Schmidt and Stefani Friedenfels will compete at the next level. Nicole will run track and cross country at Division 1 South Dakota while Stefani is headed to Minnesota-Duluth for track and field.
Nicole is pumped to be headed to a D1 school, "I know that I'll have a lot of competition, I'm looking forward to getting better and reaching my potential as well as in cross country, being with my teammates and coaches that I really enjoyed while I was there, something that is really exciting."
As for Stefani, she's glad the process is over, "It's been a long process trying to figure out where I wanted to go and now that I finally decided, it feels good."
