In this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, SportScene 13's Bob Gallaher showcases an Eau Claire Memorial's boys soccer team that is led by their terrific trio.

In Tuesday prep sports action, the Eau Claire North girls volleyball team rallies to beat Owen Withee 3-1 while Eau Claire Regis sweeps Eau Claire Memorial in 3 straight. In prep boys soccer, Eau Claire Memorial remains unbeaten as they shut out Menomonie 5-0. And River Falls comes from behind to beat Eau Claire North 3-2.

The Eau Claire Regis football team returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown and never looked back as the Ramblers routed perennial state powerhouse Stratford 50-0 at Carson Park.

In this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week, Jenn Chapman introduces us to a senior who wants to win another Big Rivers Conference title, capture his 3rd consecutive sectional title, and qualify for state in as many years as he's been in high school. Hudson's Ryan Kromer is on a quest for perfection.

SportScene 13 Tuesday prep sports recap.

A great day of prep sports. In football action, Augusta started the season on a good note as they topped Lake Holcombe 38-0. In volleyball, Eau Claire Regis topped the Diocesan tournament with a 6-0 record. Cross Country action took place at the city wells in Eau Claire for the Husky invitational as Ryan Kromer of Hudson and Aubrey Roberts of Memorial won their races. All this and swimming as well, right here on Sportscene 13!

In Colfax, the Vikings are coming off a 3-6 season in 2011 including a 1-5 mark in the Dunn-St. Croix. Coach Mark Maloney says his team will be young in 2012 with only a handful of seniors returning. The Vikings' coach says his team needs to bond in a hurry.

When the high school football season kicks off Friday night, one of the top match-ups in week one will be Bloomer hosting Somerset. The Blackhawks and Spartans have developed quite a rivalry. Somerset knocked off Bloomer in level four of the post-season last November.

It took a sudden death playoff, but River Falls Halle Hauer defeated Onalaska's Monica Rowe at the Old Abe Invite at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.

Last year the Mondovi football team went 3-3 in the Dunn St. Croix Conference and 4-6 overall. This year the team is hopeful to finish better than .500 and make the playoffs.
