Former McDonell star Kyle Cody did not disappoint in his first start with the Cavaliers, as he pitched 4 scoreless innings and struck out 8 with a Phillies scout watching the action.

Despite a late rally by Sun Prairie, Chippewa Falls held on to win their first ever state softball title with 4-3 win in the championship game.

After coming home as runners up last year, the Baldwin-Woodville softball team will come back home as state champions after defeating Monroe 7-0 in the Division 2 state title game.

The Chippewa Falls softball team scored one run in the fifth inning and that would be enough to win the WIAA Division 1 semifinal against Appleton East, to send the Cardinals to their first state final since 2009.

In a back and forth game, Pacelli scored on a sac fly in the top of the 7th to beat Grantsburg in the Division 3 state softball semifinals.

The Baldwin-Woodville softball team is returning to the state championship for the 2nd straight year after a 7-2 win over West De Pere on Thursday.

Evie Schaller had two home runs and a state tournament record 7 RBI as Chippewa Falls crushed Sussex-Hamilton 18-2 in the state softball quarterfinals.

It was another banner day for Altoona golfer Gabby Curtis, in Oshkosh she took 1st in the state jr. match play championship, beating Grace Dunn in 19 holes. This just a little more than a week after Curtis competed in the boys state tournament since Altoona doesn't have a girls team. Jenn Chapman has more on the golfing phenom in this weeks Gordy's Athlete of the Week.

It's been a good month for Altoona golfer Gabby Curtis. Last week she claimed 4th place at the State Boy's golf tournament, and Wednesday she won the State Junior Matchplay title in Oshkosh.

After losing last year's state final 1 to nothing, at the hands of Union Grove, Baldwin-Woodville is heading back to state this week looking for redemption. The team says they got the jitters of their first trip to state out of them and now they are ready to bring home the gold ball.

The Chippewa Falls girls softball team will play Sussex Hamilton in the WIAA Division 1 state quarterfinals Thursday morning in Madison.

The Eau Claire Memorial girls soccer team is headed to the WIAA Division 1 state tournament for the first time in three years. The Old Abes will play Kenosha Tremper in Thursday's state quarterfinals in Milwaukee.

The Old Abes are back at state for the first time in 4 years. Their previous two seasons had ended at the hands of River Falls.

The Eau Claire Memorial boys tennis team won their WIAA Division 1 state quarterfinal with a 7-0 match victory over Waukesha West Friday evening in Madison. The Old Abes will face Homestead Saturday in the state semifinals.

Chippewa Falls punched their ticket to the girls state softball tournament with a 7-0 win over DC Everest, while Baldwin-Woodville is also Madison bound in softball with a 2-1 win over Rice Lake. Chippewa Falls McDonell pitcher Kyle Cody was drafted Wednesday by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 33rd round of the Major League Baseball First-year player draft. Cody now a decision to make, sign a pro contract with the Phillies or pitch on scholarship for the University of Kentucky next year.

Osceola's Charlie Danielson captures second WIAA Division 2 state title while Altoona's Gabby Curtis finishes fourth in D2. In Division 3, Osseo-Fairchild takes home second place while Thunder senior Matt Sieg finishes third individually in D3.
