Benefit for the John T. Hoffland Memorial Scholarship Fund at UW-Eau Claire
July 29, 2009 – Eau Claire, WI – WEAU 13 NEWS (WEAU-TV, NBC Affiliate, La Crosse/Eau Claire DMA) employees will team up with employees of Maverick Media to play against the Eau Claire Cavaliers and other special guests. The game will be played at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Gelein Field in Carson Park, Eau Claire. The event is open to the public. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $5 per person, Children 10 and under are free. Food/Beverage concessions will be available. A silent auction is also being organized to run during the softball game. A complete list of players and silent auction items will be posted on weau.com when available.

The softball game is a family oriented friendly competition. No alcohol will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring a camera. Celebrity talent will be having a meet and greet after the game. Gelein Field has a seating capacity of 2,000.

All proceeds from the softball game, concessions and silent auction will go to benefit the John T. Hoffland Memorial Scholarship Fund at UW-Eau Claire. This fund was set up by an anonymous donor after the passing of WEAU’s former News Director John Hoffland on July 4th, 2009. Hoffland was News Director at WEAU from 1981 - 1983, 1986 – 2007 and again from January 2008 – July 2009. John also worked as a News Reporter for Maverick Media (WAXX-FM / WAYY-AM).
