Matt Kenseth talks about decision to leave Roush/Fenway Racing

NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Matt Kenseth has spent the past 24 hours trying to explain his part of the decision to leave Roush/Fenway Racing at the end of the 2012 season. Nationwide star Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will drive the #17 next year. Kenseth says he has a new deal in place with a new team, but is not ready to announce that. Kenseth told the SPEED network on Wednesday that he's excited about going in a new direction in this edition of Racing Weekly.

"You know, there are a lot of things that happened and didn't happen that probably got us to where we're at, but at the end of the day, I'm excited about what's ahead of me, not just this season, but next season. I think long term this will be good for Roush/Fenway Racing to get Ricky in there and work on the future. It was a tough decision to have there with Jack and I have a ton of respect for him, Mark Martin... I would never be sitting here, never been able to drive Cup cars. I'm looking forward to racing the rest of the year, hopefully keeping the 17 up front, finishing our relationship there on a high note."

I think it's a mistake to leave Ford, & a winning team at RFR, but I'm sure that as always, it's a money thing. I have been a Kenseth fan for years, but I refused to wear a shirt with a foreign made car on it, & you can bet it will be a JGR car. Too bad.

Obviously its a $$$s angle for MK to leave R\FR Co. Matt jumped cars to drive a Toyota "foreign car" next year in 2013 NASCAR Season. I'd hoped he would've stayed w\FORD Racing. A former MK Ford Racing Fan.....

Wisconsinite and Dan Foiles, You do know that the Ford Fusion is made in Mexico while the Toyota Camry is made in the US, right? So Dan if you are wearing a Matt Kenseth racing shirt you are already wearing a shirt with a foreign made car on it....
