Paul Menard featured in Racing Weekly

The Sprint Cup circuit is off this week ahead of next week's Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis. Eau Claire native Paul Menard returns to Indy as the defending champ and this week on Racing Weekly shares his thoughts about this season and the emotions he will feel next week.

"If we are going to make the chase, have to win at least a race, right now we're 15th in points, dropped two spots last week, so we're 15th in points, have some guys behind us that are essentially ahead of us because they have race wins in the top 20, so in order to leapfrog them, need to get one win, two wins would make us feel even better. In order to do that, have to take more risks, if some of these things come down to fuel mileage, maybe gamble more to stretch fuel mileage. We're working hard to improve the race cars every week, that's a big part of it, putting yourself in contention for wins."

Menard says he's excited to return to Indy next week as the defending champion, kissing the bricks is a memory that he will cherish for the rest of his life. Paul admits the Brickyard will always hold a special place in his heart.

"Since I was a little kid, every time I go through the tunnel in turns 1 and 2, I get goosebumps, that will be no different but I look forward to re-visiting the track and lead the haulers around in the haulers parade on Thursday night, I will get the winners ring from last year, a lot of neat things going on next weekend but more importantly looking forward to getting back on the track and drive around the Brickyard."
