The start to the Sprint Cup season has gone very well for Eau Claire native Paul Menard. In this edition of racing weekly we take a look back at a successful trip to Bristol for the Richard Childress Racing driver. He was able to avoid trouble at the wild short track on his way to a 10th place finish.
That top ten is now the third for Menard in the first 4 races of the season and that has him sitting in the 10th spot in the standings.
This week the drivers head to California Speedway...a place that Menard has never recorded a top ten finish and the race this year will be 400 miles instead of 500.
"If i remember right, they shorten it to 400 miles, which really doesn't change a whole lot, so you know we still race the races as you do any other time if it was 500 miles...The track has been kind of, I guess, it's been a struggle for me. There's no grip, it's real flat but still high speed. We've had some good runs, some bad runs. Harvick won there last year and we can take that and kinda run with it."
