Senior Forward Nate Verbracken notched a pair of goals, leading Eau Claire Memorial to a 3-1 win over Janesville Parker-Craig in the Quarterfinal Round of the Boys State Hockey Tournament in Madison Thursday.

Verbracken opened scoring in the first period. After teammate Brady Keegan unloaded a slapshot from the circle, Verbracken swept the rebound in on the doorstep to put Memorial on top 1-0.

That score held until early in the third period, when Ben Kincaid scored on the powerplay to make it 2-0 in favor of the Old Abes.

With just over 5 minutes to play, Janesville cashed in on a powerplay chance of their own, Ross Mauermann beat Brady Sand to top-right corner and cut the defecit in half.

But Verbracken put it away for Memorial, scoring with less than one minute remaining to put it out of reach for the Blue Birds.

With the win, Eau Claire Memorial improves to 24-0 on the season and will meet Superior in the Semifinal round Friday night at 7:15.

The Spartans beat University School in overtime Thursday night 6-5.
