Salina Heller joined NewsCenter 13 in May, 1995 while attending school at UW-Eau Claire. She's held many positions in the news department over the years, as a producer first, then a brief stint in the weather department, most recently reporting, and now currently co-anchoring NewsCenter 13 Sunrise.
Originally from Black River Falls in Jackson County, Salina grew up on a beef farm and says she wouldn't trade those experiences of living in the country for anything.
While at UW-Eau Claire, she received many journalism awards and scholarships, including The Cindy Schott Humanitarian Award, and The Society of Professional Journalist's Outstanding Senior Graduate Award.
Salina enjoys being active with many community activities, in groups including the Literacy Volunteers of America-Chippewa Valley, The Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals of Eau Claire, The Western Wisconsin Press Club, and many area theatre groups like the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild, the Eau Claire Children's Theatre, the Falls Players in B.R.F., and the newly formed, Osseo Community Theatre.
She also has a strong passion for working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the families affected by the disease. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, acting, any activity in the outdoors, and spending time with family. Salina feels privileged and is happy to bring the news to those in Western Wisconsin.
Please feel free to e-mail Salina with story ideas, questions, or suggestions.
