Sarah Stokes made Wisconsin and WEAU her home after spending years anchoring and reporting in several other states in the Midwest’s Heartland. She’s been a proud part of the number one news team in Western Wisconsin since 2005.
Sarah co-anchors WEAU 13 News at 5, 6 and 10 p.m.. She produced and hosted Wisconsin Journal, a morning weekend program for 2 years and also anchored Fox News at 9 for 2 years.
Prior to joining WEAU 13 News, Sarah was at the CBS and Fox stations in Springfield, Missouri, where she was a weekend anchor and reporter for three years. Before her stint in the Ozarks, Sarah was a weekend anchor and reporter for two years at KVRR in Fargo, North Dakota. However, Sarah started her broadcasting career early, as a teenage disc jockey at a country radio station in her hometown of Alexandria, Minnesota.
During her college years, she reported for WCCO's satellite station in Alexandria, and KSAX, central-Minnesota's satellite station for KSTP. She also reported for Radio Iowa while in college.
Sarah earned her Journalism degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She minored in Political Science and worked for ABC News during the 2000 Iowa Caucuses.
Sarah's newscasts and reports have been honored by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, North Dakota Associated Press and the Missouri Broadcasters Association. She's earned awards for best newscast, election coverage, writing, political reporting, spot news coverage, best series piece and feature stories. Her baby blog earned top honors in the state as well.
While working in Missouri, Sarah met and married Chris Herzog. They were co-anchors there and are co-anchors again on WEAU 13 News at Ten. They welcomed their first child, Kanyon Christopher, on New Year's Eve 2010! Their daughter Kaydence Louise arrived in August of 2012! Sarah is loving the new adventures in mommyhood!
When Sarah's not at work, she enjoys soaking up every minute with her children, visiting friends and family, taking scenic drives, reading and gardening. She and Chris try to get out on a motorcycle ride or two if they're not busy working on updating their home.
Her passion is helping others and she does so in many public fundraising efforts and charity events. Sarah recently launched what's called the "Fostering the Future Fund" with the foster care division of Lutheran Social Services. She hopes to help dozens of children with this fund and through personal work with kids and teens in the system.
