Mark Povolny is NewsCenter 13's Assignment Editor.
Mark started as a producer in March 2006. He worked on the Sunrise, Today, 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts. He started reporting in October 2006, and was promoted to Assignment Editor in the fall of 2007.
"The Lord has really blessed me with a job I love," Mark says. "With so many deadlines, every day goes by quickly, but I really enjoy everything I get to do."
Mark is a Milwaukee-area native. He grew up in Wauwatosa and moved to Eau Claire in 1996; he went to high school at Immanuel Lutheran. After high school, he worked in California for a year before moving back to the Chippewa Valley for college. He graduated from UW-Eau Claire in May 2006 with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in German. In college, Mark studied for a semester in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany, and was a member of the Singing Statesmen.
Mark lives in Eau Claire with his wife Erin, who works at Luther Hospital. Mark and Erin's daughter Katelyn was born in March, and Mark is already working on turning her into a daddy's girl. Mark's parents and five brothers and sisters are spread out from the Twin Cities to the West Coast.
