Matt Cullen is the newest addition to the WEAU team, working as a sports reporter and anchor.
Moving to Eau Claire is a homecoming of sorts for Matt. He was originally born in town, but moved to his hometown of South Milwaukee in 1989. Matt attended South Milwaukee High School, and then studied at UW-Whitewater, where he graduated from in May 2008 with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in coaching.
While in college, Matt began working toward his goal of reporting on sports as a career. Matt served as the assistant and later the head sports editor for the campus student newspaper, the Royal Purple. Also, Matt was a producer, anchor, reporter, photographer, and sports announcer for the student television station. Matt won awards in sports reporting from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and in sports play-by-play announcing from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
In his free time, Matt enjoys playing sports, especially football and baseball. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing his guitar, and cheering for the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Bucks.
