Kelly Schlicht joined the WEAU news team as a reporter in July 2008.
Kelly was born and raised in West Allis, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee. She grew up in a house where the news was always on.
Kelly attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in May 2008. She began writing for The Daily Cardinal student newspaper in 2004, eventually becoming a columnist, editorial board member, and Opinion section editor.
In the summer of 2006, Kelly fell in love with television news while interning at WISN 12 in Milwaukee. From there, she went on to intern at WKOW 27 in Madison. Kelly spent the summer of 2007 interning at ABC News Good Morning America in New York City.
Kelly comes to WEAU from WISC 3 in Madison, where she spent her last semester in college working full-time as an on-air intern. The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association also chose her to present her senior thesis on Edward R. Murrow at their June 2008 conference.
She served as UW chapter president of The Society of Professional Journalists and president of the UW Broadcast Club during her senior year, as well.
In her spare time, Kelly enjoys watching the Milwaukee Brewers, reading, art, playing the violin, teaching herself Arabic, and hanging out with her mom and sisters in Milwaukee. She also volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley.
Feel free to email Kelly at kelly.schlicht@weau.com with any story ideas you might have! She'd love to hear from you.
