People react to talk of saving pagoda from former Woo's restaurant

Eau Claire, Wisc. (WEAU) -- Locals are sounding off about the possibility of the Chippewa Valley Museum preserving the pagoda from the former Woo's Pagoda restaurant.

The pagoda from the former Woo's Pagoda restaurant has been part of the Eau Claire's skyline for more than 40 years.

But, not everyone thinks the pagoda is worth saving. Many people say there are other more important landmarks around town worth preserving.

Several people we talked to said the pagoda brings back nostalgic memories when they see it.

Meanwhile, some of the people we talked to mentioned that other Eau Claire landmarks have been destroyed over the years.

Others said there are more important local buildings and historic homes that the deserve the attention of preservation more than Woo's pagoda.

Sandee Kosmo says, "Well I think that's progress. You have to change in this city. And you have you have new things. The Woo's pagoda has been a landmark here. I used to eat there when I was a lot younger. A lot of people have eaten there and knew the Woo family."

Kara Ruesch says,"Well it's just different, I always looked out her office window and it was always right there. So it would be interesting but it would be great to get more business in that area."

Wallace Rogers says, "Enjoyed the restaurant when it was there and I know it was a landmark in the community, but I didn't see it as a particularly historic structure."

One thing everyone we talked to seemed to agree on was that the addition of a new CVS Pharmacy means that more new businesses are coming to Eau Claire and that's good for the local economy.
