After the tower went down in March of 2011 it was determined that WEAU can better serve its viewers as a UHF channel. All TV channels in the Eau Claire area are now UHF. Viewers no longer need a VHF antenna for WEAU and a UHF antenna for the rest of the stations in Eau Claire.
You will have reception problems if your antenna is VHF only. You must have an all channel or UHF antenna pointing at WEAU's tower North of Fairchild Wisconsin. With a UHF antenna pointing at WEAU's tower a rescan may be required to clear the old channel 13 and replace it with the new channel 13. The old 13 was on RF channel 13 and the new 13 is on RF channel 38. With a successful scan the new channel 13 will be identified as 13.1 just like the old one.
An outdoor UHF antenna pointing at WEAU’s Tower located at Fairchild, WI may be the best solution for WEAU.

If you must us an indoor antenna we have had good luck with the Winegard FV-HD30-FreeVision Indoor antenna. Do not use an amplifier with this antenna.
