Fairchild (WEAU) - the WEAU transmission tower is now at 1792 feet.

Weather has been troublesome the last few weeks at higher levels.

Wind and icy conditions have kept crews on the ground at various times.

There are five more sections to go before the tower itself is built.

Then, wiring will take place as well as placing the new antenna.

Anticipated launch of the new UHF signal is planned for sometime in mid-December.

We in Ashland/Hayward area no longer receive WEAU via Norvado. We will miss the WIAA games. We receive Vikings and Twins games on our local NBC stations. We were told by Norvado that WEAU did not sign a contract with them this year. Is this true?

@viewer: Have you checked the weather the past two weeks? Most likely there have been no updates because there has been little or no progress. Rain, snow, wind, and dense fog don't exactly favor folks who bolt things together at 1800' AGL for a living.

We are anxiously awaiting the return of Channel 13 news and 24/7 weather. It's true "you don't know what you've got until it's gone"
