State prosecutors failed to get evidence previously banned back into their case against a former Wausau police officer accused of trying to kill his wife.

Chueng Lee is accused of forcing his wife, Chao Lee, into a vehicle and deliberately crashing it into a Shawano County bridge in September.

The 46-year-old, 15-year police veteran is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide, false imprisonment and aggravated battery.

He faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted on the charges.

Jury selection begins on May 16th for Lee's trial.

Prosecutors had asked the court yesterday at the final motions hearing to allow evidence from Lee's home seized with a new search warrant after the old search warrant had been ruled invalid.
