Chippewa Falls might not get a new mayor until next month.
In fact, the current mayor who says he's resigning, hasn't officially done so yet.
City Council members say before they can appoint a new mayor, they need current Mayor Dan Hedrington to submit his resignation letters to the proper city departments.
Thursday night, council members did make a motion to appoint current council member Greg Hoffman, when they get the opportunity to do so. That could happen August 5th.
Hedrington announced this week he's taking a new job, and wants to resign as mayor to avoid conflicts of interest with his new firm.
Hedrington also has veto power for the council's pick for the next mayor.
