We would like to nominate Joanie Heacox for a Sunshine Award. Ms. Heacox is our daughter’s 8th grade math teacher. All year she has provided extra support, encouragement, and assistance to a student who lacks confidence in her math skills and has always struggled with math concepts. Ms. Heacox has invited our daughter to work with her outside regular school hours and offered transportation. We consider this above and beyond expectations! We are so grateful for her help and for providing an excellent role model as a math-savvy, intelligent, compassionate and positive woman.
