We would like to nominate Evelyn Samonski for the Sunshine Award.

Evelyn had a serious stroke almost fourteen years ago. This stroke resulted in being confined to a wheelchair and weakness on her left side.
Despite these deficits, Evelyn maintains a very positive spirit and provides inspiration to her family, friends, and community. She volunteered at the local school in the classroom grandparent program, made sandwiches for the volunteers helping in the Ladysmith tornado a few years ago and helps wherever she can. She continues to volunteer at the Rusk County Pregnancy Resource Center and participated in the Walk for Life campaign this past fall. With family helping her, she painstakingly walked each day to show her support for her sponsors and the Walk for Life program as well. She is a greeter at church, and bakes for various occasions to support community projects. If she cannot participate in a project or help, she remembers them in her thoughts and prayers. She loves to be with her family and friends. Evelyn also keeps active by doing daily exercises so she can go out into the community. She loves to read and do “word searches.” She gives a smile to everyone she meets and is an inspiration to all.
