Please be kind and send a Sunshine Award to my friend Elizabeth Woodward. I am 86 years old and am seriously ill and housebound.
Even though we have never met and are just “penpals” we have a different and special kind of friendship.
Elizabeth writes me every week or ten days and tells me what she has done or where she has gone – visiting or crafting, Farmer’s Market, gardening or canning. I live thru Elizabeth’s letters and she’ll send me pictures of the first crocus of Spring and her Daylilies. Once a month she’ll send me a “Family Letter” which talks of her family and what they are doing.
We have been friends for over twenty years (closer to thirty I think) but when I was in the Nursing Home we have become more than friends because of her encouragement and thoughtfulness to me. She’ll even enclose two or three stamps so I’ll be sure to write her back.
It’s nice to receive a card or letter and know that someone thought of you.
