Yellowstone Art Trail

Event Dates and Times

9/9/2016
9/10/2016
Cadott, Boyd and Eastern Lake Wissota Wisconsin Friday & Saturday, September 9 & 10, 2016 9:00 am to 5:00 pm both days
The Third Annual Yellowstone Art Trail is a free self guided art tour consisting of 33 local artists at 15 locations displaying and selling artwork in their studios and participating businesses. This year it includes Cadott, Boyd and eastern Lake Wissota and is set for Friday and Saturday, September 9th & 10th, 2016 from 9-5 both days. For those traveling from the west, the Lake Wissota County Highway X bridge is under construction, so details on the detour are available on our map, which you can also view on our website.
The Yellowstone Art Trail features artwork for all ages, men and women alike. It showcases the fine art and skills of wood craftsmen, metal sculptors, stain glass artists, plus handmade pottery, wool and fiber art from local farms, fine art drawings and paintings, handmade jewelry and much more. The artwork is original and handmade and many of the artists give demonstrations, educating the public on their craft.
Included in the art tour are historical places of interest and specialty shops featuring locally made products. The historical ZCBJ Bohemian Lodge is on the art trail and hosts several guest artists (as do Roth’s Sugar Bush, Anson Methodist Church and Cabin Ridge). Tourists that come to the Yellowstone Art Trail can get tours of the building while enjoying homemade kolaches and take in the history of this area. The Cadott Area Historical Museum also gives tours of the buildings on Saturday during the art trail.
Brochures with maps are available identifying the artists and their craft. You can pick one up at area businesses, from the artists or view it on our website: www.yellowstonearttrail.blogspot.com. Each artist will be giving away one of their creations, so make sure to enter your name in a drawing at each location. Just grab a few friends, hop in your car and follow the big yellow sunflowers dotting the trail! We welcome you to experience the arts in our area.

Business Plan Basics

Event Dates and Times

10/11/2016 - Starts: 6:00 PM - Ends: 9:00 PM
Western Dairyland 418 Wisconsin Street Eau Claire, WI 54703
Small business owners, entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners are invited to attend Business Plan Basics on Tuesday, October 11th. The class will run from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Western Dairyland Business Center, 418 Wisconsin Street, Eau Claire. Tuition is $29 and class materials are included. Class participants will learn how to create an effective and engaging business plan that can be presented to lenders and used to guide the launch and growth of a new business.
A formal business plan is a required document for anyone in search of funding to start a new business, expand an existing business or launch a new product. Fundamentally, a business plan will include a mission statement, business description, product description, market analysis, marketing plan, operations plan, management plan and financial projections. However, more than just a document, the process involved with putting the components of a business plan together will help the entrepreneur identify and mitigate risk.
There are three easy ways to register and pay for the class: online at www.SuccessfulBusiness.org, by phone at 836-7511 ext. 1171, or in person at the Western Dairyland office in downtown Eau Claire. Because space is limited, pre-registration and payment is required. Scholarships are available for income-eligible individuals.

University of Wisconsin Campus Registration Deadline: April 10, 2016
Camp Campus is a one week on-campus university experience for high school juniors and seniors diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. The camp provides an immersion into college life for students who are very capable of succeeding academically but who often fail because they have trouble adapting to the social demands of college life. During the week of Camp Campus, campers use typical college student supports including their own University debit card, dining services, dorms with a room-mate, recreational opportunities and fitness training. They improve social and communication skills through 90 minutes of instruction and practice each day. We also arrange for each camper to explore his field of interest by meeting with professors who teach in that field and with professionals currently working in that field. Campers use current technology to develop an online individual portfolio and to facilitate social understanding.
This is still an underserved population with needs that, if left unaddressed, can interfere with completion of postsecondary education, successful employment and independent living. At this point, going into our 8th year, we've seen many students who have succeeded at the college level, graduated and transitioned into successful stable careers. For the first several years, Camp Campus was supported through a Medicaid Infrastructure Grant but of course that money has long ago dried up. Camp Campus is non-profit (very)! The cost for the week is $850 (Scholarships may be available based upon need.) We frequently hear people say thy did not know about Camp Campus so clearly we need to do more to get the word out. . .difficult, because that is not my area of expertise and we have no money to advertise, of course. Thank you for any help you can provide. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact me by return email or call me at 715-836-4774 (Office) or 715-723-2903 (Home). I will be in and out of the office all week (Spring Break) but you can leave a message. Thank you.

Big Top Chautauqua Presents: Tent Show Radio

Event Dates and Times

5/9/2014
7:30 pm
State Theatre, 316 Eau Claire Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701
'Culture Under Canvas' comes to Eau Claire as Tent Show Radio celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a special live performance of the show. The show features New York Times best selling author, humorist, songwriter, radio show host and amateur pig farmer, Michael Perry, along with Big Top Chautauqua's Blue Canvas Orchestra and special musical guests.
Since 1994 Tent Show Radio has been heard every week on 50-plus listener-supported radio stations across the United States and the world on the Internet. Each week's episode features a live performance recorded from Big Top Chautauqua's summer concert season along with a short monologue by Michael Perry from the 'backstage dressing room with the one-lonely-lightbulb'.
"Taking Tent Show Radio on the road has been a blast," says Perry. "It's a chance for folks who have maybe never made it to the tent to enjoy a taste of what's been going on up at Big Top Chautauqua for decades now. The live music, the stories, and the laughs combine for a straightforward, boots-on-the-ground good time. And as I like to say, it's always fun for us to meet listeners and say thank you right to their face. Plus I get to see if any of my new jokes work."
"Tent Show Radio Live on tour features all the elements of a live radio broadcast plus quite a bit more," says the radio show's Producer Tom Fabjance. "The show is packed with variety and a large 12 plus piece ensemble of performers and musicians. The show was well received last fall in Stoughton and Reedsburg and played to near capacity crowds and folks seem to be responding favorably."
