Artist Reception - Simulacra: New Drawings by David Brock

Date(s): 3/6/2015

6:30-8:30pm

The Local Store at Volume One World Headquarters, 205 N. Dewey Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703
My current series of drawings reflects my continued interest with how we, as humans, interact and organize the landscape around us. This is especially evident at the intersection between our agrarian land and those we deem as “wild”. I have returned to the medium of drawing as a means of critical analysis towards both the how and the why of my art-making, essentially a means of self-reflection and self-expression.

Supervisor Training: Employee Evaluation and Performance Management

Date(s): 2/15/2015 Date(s): 2/14/2015

8:30 A.M - 4:00 P.M

Citizens State Bank 375 Stageline Road Hudson, WI 54016
The greatest management failure may be the ineffective delivery of performance evaluation feedback. This process is ongoing, extending beyond the formal annual performance appraisal meeting. Done well, it can lead to increased engagement, productivity, and loyalty. Yet, it’s a process that is often dreaded and misunderstood. Consequently, businesses fail to reap the real business rewards that effective performance management can deliver. Supervisor Training: Employee Evaluation and Performance Management will provide participants with proven techniques for delivering effective feedback and conducting constructive performance appraisals, even when the news is challenging.

Participants will learn how to:
 Communicate clear, specific and measurable objectives
 Identify and gather essential, objective, performance data
 Maintain a positive work climate
 Use proven coaching techniques to improve productivity
 Strengthen work relationships through effective communication
Performance appraisal is never truly mastered as new challenges are continually emerging. Even experienced managers will benefit from the expert insights, shared experiences and group discussions delivered in this program.

Who Should Attend
Aspiring, new – and even experienced – managers hoping to build their management skills.

The maple syrup season is short but sweet. Families and youth groups are invited to learn the basics of how to tap a maple tree before they head down to the grove to assist with tapping a tree of their choosing. Each group will decorate a tree marker with their own unique design to leave on their tree after tapping. The markers are designed to help families and groups find their tree again, as we strongly encourage participants to come back during the sap run and see how their tree is doing. Participants will also get a chance to visit the sugar shack where the syrup is made, and before leaving taste an ice cream treat featuring some of last season’s syrup. After the season is complete, families and groups will be able to stop back at the Reserve and pick-up their own 8 oz. bottle of syrup made with sap from their tree and their photo of their tapping adventure.

8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Metropolis Resort, 5150 Fairview Drive, Eau Claire, WI
To effectively manage others, leaders must first understand themselves. This dynamic workshop will focus on three key areas: meaningful self-appraisal, emotional intelligence, and the art of delegation. Specific tools will be covered to help attendees rediscover their areas of greatest strength as well as opportunities for improvement.

In this workshop attendees will learn how to:
- Identify and leverage their personal core values
- Conduct an honest appraisal of personal abilities and challenges
- Overcome personal challenges and cultivate personal strengths
- Use emotional intelligence to drive professional results
- Use the “art of empowerment” for effective delegation

Great leaders are people of integrity who live their lives in accordance with a well-defined value system that can help inspire others to do and be their best. This dynamic, interactive session will help attendees build skills for delegating in a structured, yet empowering, manner.

An Overview of Key Issues in Geriatric Mental Health

Date(s): 6/12/2015

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Sacred Heart Hospital Community Auditorium, 900 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI
Recognizing and treating the unique symptoms of geriatric mental disorders requires specialized knowledge. While current research in geriatric mental disorders provides us with data on evidence-based screening and treatment, there is a shortage of health and human service professionals with training in geriatric mental health. This seminar focuses on screening and treatment of depression and anxiety disorders in the elderly. By participating in this program you will better understand and be able to collaboratively work with providers to treat the complexities of geriatric mental disorders.

Participants in this program will learn via multiple teaching methods including lecture-discussion, case studies, role plays and video.
