So you've written that novel, memoir, or non-fiction book. You want to get it out to the world, but how do you do that? The world of publishing is going through rapid changes, and self-publishing doesn't have the stigma it once did. But there are still pitfalls, dead ends, and ways that you can easily overspend or otherwise have a bad experience.

This class is designed to help demystify the entire publishing process. You will learn the ins and outs of self-publishing, and ultimately you will end this course with a published e-book of your own writing. Even if you choose to go through a traditional publisher, knowing what your options are will make you a more savvy author.

Seminar on Validation and 21 CFR 11 Compliance of Computer Systems Intermediate to Advanced at San Diego, CA

Event Dates and Times

7/14/2016 - Starts: 9:00 AM - Ends: 6:00 PM
7/15/2016 - Starts: 9:00 AM - Ends: 6:00 PM
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Francisco Airport 835 Airport Blvd, Burlingame, CA 94010, USA
Course "Validation and 21 CFR 11 Compliance of Computer Systems: Intermediate to Advanced" has been pre-approved by RAPS as eligible for up to 12 credits towards a participant's RAC recertification upon full completion.

Overview:

Computer Systems Validation (CSV) also known as Software Validation is all-pervasive in the Life Sciences Industry. It is a requirement of all the predicate rules, as well as 21 CFR 11 and Annex 11. However, unless one knows how to implement CSV, it is often very hard to detect the requirement for CSV, and very hard to determine what needs to be done, to meet domestic and / or international regulations or business continuity requirements. In addition, the FDA has stepped up 21 CFR 11 inspections that include CSV.
This course will build on the Validation and 21 CFR 11 Compliance Basic Course, to give hands on experience on executing on the computer systems validation of a system, and to discuss related activities such as Validation Master Plan, Infrastructure Qualification, Project Management for Validation and Validation of Test Tools
The attendees must have attended the Basic Validation & 21 CFR 11 Compliance. This is a very hands-on class and the attendees will be expected to use templates provided in the class to create the complete package for the validation of a system

The Seminar:

This Hands-On course will provide the attendees with more detailed experience on validation / 21 CFR 11 compliance of a computer system, as well as details for activities associated with computer systems validation as follows:
1. Validation Master Plan
2. Complete Validation for a System

Yellowstone Art Trail

Event Dates and Times

9/9/2016
9/10/2016
Cadott, Boyd and Eastern Lake Wissota Wisconsin Friday & Saturday, September 9 & 10, 2016 9:00 am to 5:00 pm both days
The Third Annual Yellowstone Art Trail is a free self guided art tour consisting of 33 local artists at 15 locations displaying and selling artwork in their studios and participating businesses. This year it includes Cadott, Boyd and eastern Lake Wissota and is set for Friday and Saturday, September 9th & 10th, 2016 from 9-5 both days. For those traveling from the west, the Lake Wissota County Highway X bridge is under construction, so details on the detour are available on our map, which you can also view on our website.
The Yellowstone Art Trail features artwork for all ages, men and women alike. It showcases the fine art and skills of wood craftsmen, metal sculptors, stain glass artists, plus handmade pottery, wool and fiber art from local farms, fine art drawings and paintings, handmade jewelry and much more. The artwork is original and handmade and many of the artists give demonstrations, educating the public on their craft.
Included in the art tour are historical places of interest and specialty shops featuring locally made products. The historical ZCBJ Bohemian Lodge is on the art trail and hosts several guest artists (as do Roth’s Sugar Bush, Anson Methodist Church and Cabin Ridge). Tourists that come to the Yellowstone Art Trail can get tours of the building while enjoying homemade kolaches and take in the history of this area. The Cadott Area Historical Museum also gives tours of the buildings on Saturday during the art trail.
Brochures with maps are available identifying the artists and their craft. You can pick one up at area businesses, from the artists or view it on our website: www.yellowstonearttrail.blogspot.com. Each artist will be giving away one of their creations, so make sure to enter your name in a drawing at each location. Just grab a few friends, hop in your car and follow the big yellow sunflowers dotting the trail! We welcome you to experience the arts in our area.

"Merging Remnants" Art Opening Reception by Robert Gehrke

Event Dates and Times

7/1/2016 - Starts: 6:30 PM
The Local Store, Eau Claire
Robert's recent work explores image as metaphor, symbol and archetype. Meanings we attach to personal experience are often guided by a sense of history. It is one way we make sense of fragmentary and limited views. An object or image can serve as a vehicle for complex and open-ended concepts that transcend the literal. The works for this exhibit are inspired by things seen and unseen that inform my daily experience and sense of place. Historic photos, postcard images, found objects, and landscapes express various ways of being in the world.

Bob Gehrke has exhibited his work in Sculpture Tour Eau Claire, Birds In Art (Wausau), Art Kudos (online), First Street Gallery National Exhibition (New York City) and the Northern National Art Competition (Rhinelander).

University of Wisconsin Campus Registration Deadline: April 10, 2016
Camp Campus is a one week on-campus university experience for high school juniors and seniors diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. The camp provides an immersion into college life for students who are very capable of succeeding academically but who often fail because they have trouble adapting to the social demands of college life. During the week of Camp Campus, campers use typical college student supports including their own University debit card, dining services, dorms with a room-mate, recreational opportunities and fitness training. They improve social and communication skills through 90 minutes of instruction and practice each day. We also arrange for each camper to explore his field of interest by meeting with professors who teach in that field and with professionals currently working in that field. Campers use current technology to develop an online individual portfolio and to facilitate social understanding.
This is still an underserved population with needs that, if left unaddressed, can interfere with completion of postsecondary education, successful employment and independent living. At this point, going into our 8th year, we've seen many students who have succeeded at the college level, graduated and transitioned into successful stable careers. For the first several years, Camp Campus was supported through a Medicaid Infrastructure Grant but of course that money has long ago dried up. Camp Campus is non-profit (very)! The cost for the week is $850 (Scholarships may be available based upon need.) We frequently hear people say thy did not know about Camp Campus so clearly we need to do more to get the word out. . .difficult, because that is not my area of expertise and we have no money to advertise, of course. Thank you for any help you can provide. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact me by return email or call me at 715-836-4774 (Office) or 715-723-2903 (Home). In this course, learn how nanotechnology is revolutionizing our approach to medicine delivery. You will determine the rate of release of a red dye ("the medicine") from alginate beads that you will make. Then you will design a time release "nano-medicine" to deliver the medicine at a targeted rate. You will be able to test and evaluate your prototypes.

Rebecca's abstract paintings come from memories of particular places she has visited, and are her efforts to distill their unique character and emotional impact. She especially love places that are remote, rugged, rocky and wild, and has recently spent time in such locations in Ireland, Sweden, and New Mexico. She uses oil paint, cold wax medium, and various powders and drawing tools to create complex surfaces that resonate with her memories and responses to these experiences.

"Merging Remnants" Art Opening Reception by Robert Gehrke

Event Dates and Times

7/1/2016
The Local Store at the Volume One World Headquarters 205 N. Dewey St. Eau Claire, WI 54703

Whether you have a dog, want a dog, or are just curious about why dogs behave the way they do - and how to make them behave better - this is the class for you.
Have you ever wondered, "Why is my dog doing that?!"

Would you like to learn the best ways to train dogs? This workshop series will provide an overview of basic learning techniques related to canine behavior.
You will learn how to:
Teach new behaviors and decrease problematic ones.
Administer reinforcement techniques to increase desirable behavior.
Get positive behaviors to occur on cue.
We will also discuss why typical behavior problems arise and persist, and what can be done to address these troubling traits. You might be surprised to learn that you do not need to use punishment to decrease problem behaviors! This class will prepare you to structure your training around behavioral principles and to build better relationships with your four-legged friends.
