Every Life Matters

Date(s): 10/1/2015

8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Florian Gardens, Eau Claire
A Life Conference is coming to The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on October 1, 2015!
“Every Life Matters” is a prolife conference that you won’t want to miss! The event will give various pro-life organizations the ability to showcase their services to the public. Pro-Life Wisconsin and Right to Life Wisconsin are just two of the organizations that will participate. Apple Pregnancy of Eau Claire is also expected to be present along with Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services.
The Conference has two parts.
The End of Life Issues will be addressed from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Some of the topics covered will include Advance Care Directives, POLSTs, Brain Death/Persistent Vegetative state and assisted suicide/euthanasia. Attorney Nikolas Nikas of the Bioethics Defense Fund of Phoenix, Arizona will speak on these weighty topics.
Following Mr. Nikas will be Bobby Schindler, Jr. as the Keynote speaker for the luncheon. Mr. Schindler is the brother of the late Terri Schiavo who was dehydrated to death by the State of Florida. Mr. Schindler will speak about the tragic journey that he and his parents traveled as they fought for their loved one’s life and the horror they experienced as they watched Terri die a very painful and premature death. Mr. Schindler will also speak to the failings of the courts, the laws and the legal system that denied Ms. Schiavo adequate due process before the taking of her life by the State of Florida.
Other topics that will be covered in this session include organ donation, suicide prevention and aftercare for families. The price of admission to this first session will be $50.00 and includes lunch.
The second session, Beginning of Life, runs from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will cover such issues as abstinence, adoption and abortion. It is hoped that middle school, high school and college age young people will attend. Tickets for young people under the age of 25 will be $10.00. This includes dinner. For people 25 years old and over the price will be $45.00 per ticket. Young people under the age of 18 years old must present a consent form which can be found on the website www.everylifematters.life. This form must be signed by their parent/guardian in order for them to attend.
Jewels Green is the Keynote speaker before dinner. Ms. Green suffered a coerced abortion at the age of 17 years old. Following that traumatic experience she fell into a profound depression. In order to make herself feel better she sought employment at an abortion clinic in order to prove to herself that it was no big deal. Her journey and healing followed this decision and ultimately she became a national pro-life advocate and speaker!
Gianna Jessen will be the second Keynote speaker of the evening following dinner. Ms. Jessen survived a saline abortion that her mother underwent. Despite her disabilities she has an uplifting personality and tells an inspirational story that will leave people leaving the event with hope and resolve!
This event has been organized and sponsored by the Chippewa County Republican Women’s Club partnering with Eau Claire and La Crosse Counties’ Republican Women’s Clubs as a community service. It is not a political event or a fundraiser. Chippewa County Republican Women’s Club includes active members from Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, Jackson, Marathon and Wood Counties. Tickets for both sessions may be purchased separately at www.everylifematters.life

Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 South High Street , Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
Show starts at 2:00 p.m.
The calendar has finally turned over to one of Ole's favorite times of the year, the State Fair. For years Lena has been in competition with her arch rival Elaine Danielson always tying for the ribbons. This year she has a new trick up her sleeve. Ole on the other hand has been enjoying the fair with his best friend Sven since they were kids; the food, machinery hill, the livestock judging and the farm talk. Even now Ole looks forward to the fair with the same youthful anticipation as when he was young. But, when it comes time for the judging Lena seems nowhere to be found. Can Ole find Lena in time for the judging? Join the fun as Ole and Lena turn the State Fair upside down with laughter.
Dinner and show: $32 adults, $31 seniors, $22 youth (under 16 years)
Admission: $13 adults, $12 seniors, $6 youth (under 18 years)

Spoon Carving Circle

Date(s): 9/10/2015

6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Ark, Viroqua, WI
The night before Valentine’s Day, 2014, six people gathered in Driftless Folk School’s intimate little office space in The Ark in Viroqua for the first monthly Driftless Folk School Carving Circle. We ran the gamut of ages and experience, from veteran spoon carvers and a promising young new carver, to a curious onlooker – turned – carving convert.
The latter purchased a “sloyd” and a “hook” knife from another participant and was … hooked. Mostly, people worked on spoons they had already started, shared techniques, tips and stories, and had a grand old time. All carving projects are welcome; bowyers, chip carvers, whittlers… spoons just happen to be the most common. Bring some wood, a carving tool or two, and a Band Aid, and a good joke wouldn’t hurt either. If you don’t have any wood or tools, come anyway. There’s a good chance someone might be able to share wood, or even sell a couple tools. Spoon Gathering in September!

Dates: Second Thursday every Month: Sept 10, Oct 8
Time: 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $2 per person to cover space use fees

If you don't think doodling is a serious art form, then think again! Doodling is purposeful action that is helpful in memory retention, allows for creative expression, and can be calming – almost meditative. Doodling can also make great art. The most beautiful paintings aren’t just conjured up out of nothing. They begin with a simple sketch. Cindi Moist will lead the class through a class focusing on patterns with markers. Admission: $30 per person.

Sales Skills Training to Transform Your Business

Date(s): 2/5/2016

8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Schneider Hall Room 320, 1702 Park Ave. Eau Claire, WI 54701
The biggest problem business leaders face in today’s competitive business environment is increasing their revenues and margins. Sales and marketing departments have been investing significant resources to drive new business, including generating leads and providing in-house sales training for their sales representatives and customer service people. Unfortunately industry statistics indicate that 75% of leads are never called by a sales professional and, when surveyed sales professionals consistently rank prospecting, sales skills training and lead follow up as their least favorite selling activity.

Sales Skills Training to Transform Your Business helps companies solve this problem by strengthening the prospecting and selling skills of all sales representatives, sales managers and customer service people using innovative teaching methods. The sales training seminar is based on proven successful teaching methods used in the university classroom. Many of the same teaching techniques and sales games that will be presented at the seminar have been used to coach student member of the UW-Eau Claire Sales Team to the National Collegiate Sales Competition Team Championship in 2014.

Fee: $250 per person. Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch and a Blu-Gold Sales Skills Training Manual. Parking will be provided.
