The purpose of the Frostbite Road Race & Winter Walk presented by Community First Bank is to offer a unique experience in the “off season,” to enjoy camaraderie, good health, and help support the YMCA.
Refreshments will be available after the race in the All Purpose Room at the Y.
Both the 5 and 10 mile races begin at 12:00 Noon.
Five mile walkers depart at 12:01 p.m.
All events begin and end at the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
Check in takes place Friday, December 6, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 7, from 9:00- 11:30 a.m. at the Stevens Point Area YMCA, All Purpose Room.
At check-in, you will be given your Dry Fit long sleeve shirt.
There will be a brief rules meeting at 11:45 a.m. in the All Purpose Room.
Locker room facilities and showers are available for your convenience. Please bring your own lock and towel.
Course maps will be available at check-in and online at www.spymca.org (under the ‘EVENTS’ tab) by November 1.
The race runs along paved roads and is flat and fast.
The course is a semi-out and back.
The 5 and 10 mile course run is identical other than the turn-around point.
This event is a fund raiser for the YMCA Youth Programs. Therefore, in the event of a weather cancellation no refunds will be issued.
5 Mile Winter Walk (Individual $20)

Participants in the 5 and 10 mile races will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each division by gender. Must be present to receive award. Awards will not be mailed. If you know you will not be present for awards, we recommend entering the “Open” division, so the award gets passed to the next person.
Drop-in child care is free for up to 3 hours for members and away members. Away members must present YMCA membership card to Member Services. Non-member fee is $3 for first child and $1 for each additional child. Drop-in child care is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Walk with your Best Friend for Domestic Violence Awareness

Raising awareness for domestic violence and its relation to animal cruelty. Registration starts at 9, $5 per dog-must have proof of current vaccinations and play well with other dogs. The first 100 dogs will receive a free bandana and all participants will receive a ticket for door prizes. The Jackson County 4H Dog agility team and the Jackson County K-9 units will be on-site giving demonstrations! Lunch will be Chili and fry bread for a free-will donation. Proceeds to benefit Bolton Refuge House-Jackson County Outreach.

52nd Annual Christmas Walk

"Christmas Tweetings" will feature seasonal crafts, a popular bake sale (including pickles, lefse and rosettes), plus coffee and cookies available at Our Savior's UMC. We are having our 2nd annual “Run for the Lights” 5K run/walk on Saturday, November 30. Registration begins at 2:45pm and the race starts at 4:00pm. The park will be closed to race-traffic only during race time. Families and runners alike are invited to join us. Runners will start at dusk and finish as the lights are turning on. Following the race there will be awards, refreshments, and treats!

Running for Pine Ridge 5K

UW-Eau Claire American Indian Studies is co-sponsoring Running for Pine Ridge Oct. 26.
This is a 5k event. Registration beings at 8 a.m. in the W.R. Davies Student Center, followed by the walk/run at 9 a.m. The fee for the race is $20 per participant.
There will be prizes for first place winners in four brackets: men's run, women's run, men's walk, and women's walk.
The Running for Pine Ridge fundraiser will raise money for paint and supplies, along with other materials to help students volunteer at four organizations on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota.
The organizations include, The Oglala Sioux Youth Homeless Shelter, Oglala Sioux Veterans Homeless shelter, SuAnne Big Crow's Boys and Girls Club, and Nagi Apikiyapi Elementary School.
