American Indian Heritage Month
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites the campus and community to celebrate American Indian Heritage Month.
The events are as follows:
• Nov. 5 – The "Gikinoo'wizhiwe Onji Waaban" (Guiding for Tomorrow) will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Menominee Room of Davies Center. This initiative is a unique approach to increasing awareness of how climate change is affecting Lake Superior's coastal environment, people, cultures and economies.
The Native American Student Association will also host an opening reception for the month's activities from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Ojibwe Room of Davies Center. Chili and frybread will be available.
• Nov. 7 – The Native American Student Association will sell frybread Indian tacos from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on the first floor of Davies Center. Food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Nov. 11 – A Lac Courte Oreilles Veterans Day pow-wow bus trip will be held from 3-11 p.m. The group will depart from Kjer Theatre and will visit the Lac Courte Oreilles reservation. A $5 fee covers the cost of transportation, a feast and admission. Space is limited to 45 people, so those interested should contact the American Indian Studies office at 715-836-6045 or the Office of Multicultural Affairs at 715-836-3368.
• Nov. 14 – A Native American student panel will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Menominee Room of Davies Center. The subject of the panel is "Everything you ever wanted to ask an Indian but never could?" Participants may ask questions anonymously and hear back from students of the Native American Student Association.
• Nov. 20 – The film "Babakiueria" will be shown from 6:30-8 p.m. in Woodland Theater of Davies Center. The movie explores what it would feel like if a fleet tried to settle an area inhabited by white natives.
• Nov. 21 – A Native American Month buffet will be held from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Dulany Inn of Davies Center. The menu will include buffalo, venison, corn, wild rice and more. The price of the buffet is $9.50. Reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling 715-836-3261.

Menomonie High School's fall musical, Crazy for You, is billed as "the new Gershwin musical comedy" as it debuted in 1992, but uses music written by George and Ira Gershwin. Largely based on their 1930 musical, Girl Crazy, it's a romantic love musical comedy. Romance! Love! Song! Dance! Comedy! It has it all! Crazy for You won the 1992 Tony Award for best musical.

ECCT Presents: "Disney's Aladdin Jr."

The Eau Claire Children’s Theatre will present DISNEY'S ALADDIN JR. November 21-24, at the State Theatre in downtown Eau Claire.
When Aladdin accidentally discovers a magic lamp and the Genie inside it, he sees a whole new world filled with possibilities. With the Gene's help, Aladdin must battle the evil Jafar for power and possession of the lamp and win the hand of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. This theatrical adaptation of the 1992 movie features popular Disney songs "A Whole New World," "Friend Like Me," and more.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday, November 21 – Saturday, November 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 24, at 1:30 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors, $12 for students, and $8 for youth ages 12 and under.
During each of the show’s performances, ECCT will host its annual holiday silent auction. A different set of auction items will be on display in the lobby during each show. Bidding closes at the end of intermission, and the winning bidders pick up and pay for their items as they leave the theatre. All proceeds from the auction support ECCT programming.
Theatre-goers can add to their experience by attending “Aladdin's Agrabah Adventure” on Saturday, November 23 at 12:00 p.m. Those attending will enjoy games and have treats with Aladdin and his friends before the show. Tickets are $5.00 per person (does not include show tickets) and advance registrations are required.
