Practicing Mindfulness Sessions

.

The Healing Place, 1010 Oakridge Drive, Eau Claire
The Healing Place, Sacred Heart Hospital’s grief support and holistic healing center, is hosting sessions on “Practicing Mindfulness.” One session runs the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., beginning June 9 through the summer. The second session runs the second and forth Wednesdays of each month, from 11 a.m. to Noon, beginning June 11 through the summer.

The DVD educational offering will focus on providing information on the practice of meditation. In recent years, science has confirmed that people who regularly engage in meditation have improved mental functioning, emotional and physical health. Meditation can play an important role in helping people deal with the ups and downs that accompany major life transitions. There are 24 sessions in the entire series, which will run through the summer of 2015. People can attend as many sessions as they wish. A discussion will follow each session.

Sessions that will be offered from June to August 2014 are:

Session 1: Investigates how the mind works and the condition of mindlessness

Session 2: Explore “mindfulness,” which is nonjudgmental attention to experience as it occurs in everyday life and as a deliberate practice

Session 3: Introduces the practice of meditation as a tool for developing mindfulness

Session 4: Explores the interconnections of ethical behavior with the development of mindfulness and the shaping of personal character

Session 5: Considers the physical settings most conducive to meditation practices

Session 6: Explores breath as an anchor for allowing the mind to calm itself

All sessions will take place at The Healing Place, 1010 Oakridge Drive, Eau Claire.

The sessions are free, however people are asked to please register for each program at least 48 hours in advance by calling The Healing Place at (715) 717-6028.
