Vintage Base Ball Fundraiser
Diamond Number 6 - Wakanda Park in Menomonie
The Dunn County Historical Society is hosting a Vintage Base Ball Fundraiser on Saturday, August 16. The Menomonie Blue Caps will play a combined team made up of the Menomonie Police Department and Dunn County Sheriff's Office. The gates will open at 12:30pm for activities. Kids will get to play vintage games and tennis ball toss. They will also get to see how fast they throw with the RADAR Challenge (3 balls for $1).
Kids will also get the chance to try vintage base ball out on the field before the match begins. There is a silent auction and raffle that will also begin at that time. The Grand Prize is a Milwaukee Package that includes: (2) Club Level Tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers, (2) Harley-Davidson Museum Passes and a one-night stay at the Sheraton Milwaukee-Brookfield
The concession stand will also be open. The match will start at 2:00 p.m. It will be a true vintage base ball match played by 1860s-era rules. No gloves will be used, since they did not exist until the 1870s-1880s. The game will be played on a softball diamond in Menomonie's Wakanda Park
All proceeds from the day will go to the Dunn County Historical Society
