September Artists of the Month: Chippewa Valley Watercolor Painters

Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 South High Street, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
Exhibit runs from Tuesday, September 2 to Wednesday, September 24 weekdays; closed weekends. Artist Reception: Friday, September 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

The Chippewa Valley Watercolor Artists are celebrating 20 years of painting and showing their work to the public.

This group started in 1994 as a result of Janet Carson’s "On Location Watercolor Class" with seven people and has since grown to over thirty members. The Watercolorists meet the first Wednesday of each month at Beaver Creek Reserve, Hwy K, north of Fall Creek. At our meetings we paint, critique, share information and learn from each other. As we create, we experience the joy as well as the frustration, and through it all we have a good time. All watercolor artists, beginning through advanced, are invited to join.

For more information, talk to any member, call Jan at 715-874-5870 or e-mail, kippenjp@wwt.net

Fertile Ground: Where Possibility Meets Welcome

Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 South High Street, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
FERTILE GROUND: WHERE POSSIBILITY MEETS WELCOME
Exhibit runs from Tuesday, September 2 to Wednesday, September 24
Artist Reception: Friday, September 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Every now and then the right elements come together to make something extraordinary happen. At the Episcopal Cathedral in Eau Claire, the seeds of artistry seem to have landed on good soil. Fertile Ground is an exhibition of artwork at the Heyde Center for the Arts in September 2014, composed of work from some of the award winning and influential artists currently connected to Christ Church Cathedral, photographer Hope Greene, sculptor Catelyn Mailloux and painter Constance Denchy.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

The Question Lakes: photographic prints by Hope Greene
Hope Greene is an internationally exhibited artist living in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where her studio is housed in a small dairy barn. An advocate for bringing art and artists into everyday life, she founded and directs the Artist in Residence program at Christ Church Cathedral and is a contributing writer for Volume One. Greene is currently one of the nine artists participating in the CSA program through the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center.

Sculpture by Catelyn Mailloux
Catelyn Mailloux, a native of Minnesota, is a recent graduate in art and education at UWEC. She is one of the two Artists in Residence at the Cathedral. Mailloux won first place at the 2012 Confluence of Art Biennial and her work has recently been featured at Janet Carson Gallery in Eau Claire. This past summer, she completed work on a collaborative sculpture for the new education building on the UWEC campus.

Splash and All: paintings on plastic wrap by Constance Denchy
Constance Denchy was born in West Hampton Beach, Long Island NY. She graduated with a BFA from the the University of the Arts in 1987 with a series of paintings called Infant Images that by 1996 became a fellowship award winning series, from the Delaware Division of the Arts, called Infant Equations. Since that time, she has exhibited in several states and in Japan. In 2008, Ms Denchy became a PCA AiE State Roster Artist, which allowed her to continue developing her Infant Equations Theory, while also creating proactive collaborative community projects in over 55 site venues since 2008. More recently, since March of 2010, Ms. Denchy made a solo debut of her Infant Equations using a technique she calls: “a clear wrap” using cling wrap as canvas.
