Menomonie Applebee’s breakfast to celebrate “SurvivingWinter!”

An all-you-can-eat breakfast at Applebee’s in Menomonie Apil 19th to be held to celebrate the arrival of spring (hopefully!) and the fact that we made it through one of the coldest winters we’ve had in a long time. In the winter of 2013, we were contacted more times to rescue horses than in the winters of 2011 and 2012 combined!

The breakfast, which includes sausage, pancakes, coffee or milk and juice, will be served from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the restaurant, located just off I-94 at Exit 41 in Menomonie. The price per person is $7.

The breakfast will be cooked by Applebee’s staff and served by volunteers of Refuge Farms Horse Rescue & Sanctuary in Spring Valley. There will also be a bake sale, raffle, and the sale of Refuge Farms hats and t-shirts.

Tickets to the Applebee’s breakfast are available at the door or from any Refuge Farms volunteer prior to the event

Love-Light Christmas Tree Ceremony

Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel (900 West Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire)
For the 28th year, the Volunteer Partners of Sacred Heart Hospital will sponsor the Love-Light Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. This is a unique way for individuals to memorialize a loved one, or to honor a relative or friend by making a donation to reserve a light in a loved one’s name. The lighting ceremony will take place Sunday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel (900 West Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire), with outdoor tree lighting to follow.

For a donation PER NAME of $10, you can reserve a light of remembrance or a light in recognition of loved ones:

• WHITE LIGHT — Deceased Adult
• BLUE LIGHT — Deceased Child
• RED/GREEN — Living Relative/Friend
• GOLD LIGHT — Living/Deceased Veterans/Active Military

Lighted tree toppers are available for a donation of $100. A nativity scene (new this year) is available for a donation of $250.

Love-Light donations must be received by 12 Noon on November 22 to Volunteer Partners at Sacred Heart Hospital, 900 West Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701. The names of all loves ones submitted by the deadline will be listed in a special tribute in the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram on Saturday, November 30. Submission forms are available in the hospital’s Main Lobby, Cafeteria, Family Waiting Center and Regional Cancer Center. The donation form can also be downloaded off the hospital’s website at: http://www.sacredhearteauclaire.org/love-lights.

Attendees of the ceremony will enjoy spirited songs by the Madrigal Singers from Memorial High School. Immediately following the ceremony, the Memorial High School singers will lead attendees to The Healing Gardens (located in front of the hospital) for the outdoor tree lighting.

This year, as in past years, thousands of loved ones will be represented as lights on the trees in front of the hospital. Each night throughout this Christmas season, the lights will glow in their honor.

All proceeds support the ministry of The Healing Place: A Center for Life’s Journeys – the hospital’s free outreach to support individuals and families dealing with grief, loss and life transitions.

For more information, contact Volunteer Services at 715-717-4255.
