Women's Business Network Meeting

The Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center will host a Women’s Business Network meeting on running a Family Business with Jeanne Chilson of the Chilson Automotive Group on Thursday, November 8th. The meeting is free to attend and will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, 418 Wisconsin St., Eau Claire.

From Walmart to the Trump Organization, some of the world’s largest corporations are family owned and operated. Although building a business with the people you trust most can be highly successful and rewarding, it comes with unique obstacles based on balancing the interests of the family with the interests of the business. Chilson will discuss how her family has established and successfully grown their family business through the decades.

Chilson Automotive Group was started in 1959 by Bernard and Ken Chilson in Osseo, Wisconsin. The primary brand was Rambler automobiles. Today, the Chilson Family has three dealerships in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area. Chilson Inc. (Subaru and Suzuki) in Eau Claire. Chilson Chrysler Dodge LLC is located in Chippewa Falls. Chilson's Corner Motors in Cadott features the full line of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Heavy Duty/Commercial Dodge trucks. Bernard is involved with every aspect of the business as are his seven children. Steve Chilson, Lynn Schultz and Jeanne Chilson-Szepieniec work as the management team in the Eau Claire facility. Mark Chilson and Kate Chilson work out of the Chippewa Falls location. Deb Chilson and Matt Chilson head up the team in Cadott.

Women’s Business Network meetings are free and open to the public. They take place over the lunch hour on the second Thursday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bag lunch and plenty of business cards. The goal of the meetings is to facilitate networking relationships among women business owners, allowing them to expand their small business knowledge. The structure of the meetings will allow participants to learn from an expert in the field and from each other’s shared experiences.
