They are the Menomonie Lions Club, but the members deal with elk, buffalo and deer. You may have seen the game park off I-94... It's in Wakanda Park and it's giving people a free walk on the wild side.

In today's Wandering Wisconsin we head to the Lions Club Game Park.
Melvin Nevala tells us it started in the late 50's when I-94 was being built. There are 18 acres of land and we wanted to add the elk to draw people in. Now we have 5 buffalo, 4 elk, 5 deer and nature trails.

People can come walk through the area and there are marked places. The trails take you by the elk pens and deer. The animals eat quite a bit of hay, the buffalo eat 600 bales a year, the elk eat 12 of the big round bales a year. People can come out and feed them any leftover greens from their gardens like corn and greens. For the elk, they like deciduous tree leaves so if you have branches with green leaves they would like that.

It's nice especially to see the youngsters who have never seen an animal up close. We work hard out here and spend a lot of time out here.

The Lions Club puts a lot of work into the game park, and if you want to visit, it's in Menomonie's Wakanda park. And as Merlin told us, spends a lot feeding the animals, so donations are appreciated.

Directions to the park:
From Westbound I-94, Exit on 25, take Broadway, left on Oak, Right on Wilson, left on Pine, left on Game Park Road.
