The spring and summer weather Mother Nature treated us to this year was not welcome to Wisconsin grape growers.
An owner and wine maker at River Bend Vineyard and Winery just west of Chippewa Falls tells us the Mothers Day Weekend frost this spring killed all of their grape plants. Luckily four out of five of the varieties did push out secondary buds but this summers huge amount of rain is also forcing growers to wait longer before harvesting their crop.
Wineries in the southern part of Wisconsin lost even more of their crop to frost than more local areas.
