Police warn to watch out for storm damage scammers

As people in Rice Lake clean up the damage from yesterday's storms, the Rice Lake Police Department wants them to be aware of possible scammers.

The police department says people living in Rice Lake should use caution and be aware of possible scams. Police say you always need to get a written estimate, check references, and never pre-pay for any repairs.

Officers say that even though most contractors are legitimate, some people may try to take advantage of the situation.

They say if you see any suspicious activity or people, you should call the Barron County Sheriff's Department at 715-537-3106.
