Press release from the La Crosse Police Department:
Due to the recent severe weather, the La Crosse Police Department is urging the public to avoid traveling into the damaged areas of the south end of La Crosse. Downed power lines, damaged buildings and damaged trees will affect travel routes and pose dangerous situations. As tempting as it maybe, we are strongly urging the public to STAY AWAY from these areas whether by foot or vehicle to make it easier for emergency personnel to perform their duties.
The La Crosse Police have called in additional personnel to help with the situation. Due to the damage, there maybe a delay in response time of emergency service personnel. We ask that those who may need help contact the Emergency Dispatch Center – 785-5962.
